Hydraulic Field Service Technician

  • What We're Looking For

    At Devine Hydraulics, Inc (DHI), we are looking for an individual for the position of Hydraulic Field Service Technician. Working individually and, at times in a team, the right individual will have a strong mechanical aptitude and background to disassemble and inspect, recommend process and parts to repair, enact these processes in a timely and efficient manner. Candidate should have five years of hydraulic experience, ability to work well at customer locations under pressure and have a valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record. We train and cross-train strong candidates in the field of hydraulic repair and assembly. Duties would include the entire spectrum of industrial and mobile equipment mechanical troubleshooting and repairs. Some overnight travel.

    • Professionally interact with customers to determine service issues

    • Work dutifully with Service Writer and Shop Foreman to support the efficient and accurate quoting and billing of repair and service work
    • Keep chronological records of service activity, both in computer and on hard-copy forms; to include each service step, evaluation of system or component, parts request and installation, repairs, completions, and tests/certifications
    • Attends various training and safety certification classes and seminars as required
    • Shop maintenance including cleaning, organizing, trash removal, and securing valuables during non-working hours
  • Requirements

Parts Counter Associate

  • Overview

This is a key role in the company and, as such, the individual selected will be a highly skilled, adaptive and customer responsive professional. A key responsibility will be inputting and checking information on the computer and verifying the computer inventory by physically checking parts in the parts storage bins. The ability to communicate clearly with customers and co-worker is paramount. Growth to a supervisory or management role is part of the career path if desired.

Fluid Power Specialist

  • What We're Looking For

    We are looking for a Certified Fluid Power Specialist (CFPS) with strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for learning how machines and other equipment work. This individual must demonstrate knowledge in mathematics and basic science, and be motivated to stay informed on changes in the industry. Robust communication skills are required to convey ideas to others both in oral or written form as well as through drawings and graphs.

  • Responsibilities

    In addition to working directly with Brian Devine, a recognized industry leader and innovator in hydraulic engineering, fabrication, and troubleshooting, basic responsibilities include:


    • Design/draw schematics for hydraulic systems, power units and call out components to meet the customer’s requirements
    • Troubleshoot hydraulic systems in-house, in the field, and on-site at customers’ facilities
    • Design, size, select components, and write specifications for hydraulic systems
    • Make fluid power presentations to both internal and external stakeholders and customers

Shop Foreman

  • Overview

    Directly supervises 8 to 12 employees working in all areas of shop operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Reports to the President of Devine Hydraulics, Inc. (DHI)

  • What We're Looking For

    We are looking for an individual to take full responsibility and supervision of all shop operations including work associated with production, material usage, shop tools & equipment and labor controls by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate personnel. Skills with time management techniques and scheduling are essential. Computer capabilities are key, especially with Windows-based apps (Word, Excel and Outlook) as well as ERP (QuickBooks for Manufacturing preferred). This is a key role in the company.

    • Creates the daily/weekly production schedule for all shop work
    • Controls and adjusts the workflow, overtime, maintenance and other items important to the successful daily operation of the shop

    • Monitors equipment usage, dependability and maintenance issues that could impact work efficiency or production results; analyzes and recommends solutions to the President
    • Controls and approves the use of all overtime by Shop Personnel
    • Works closely with the President and Sales Staff to meet customer needs and solve job-related problems while effectively controlling cost and managing shop personnel issues
    • Prepares packaging and shipping or organizes pickup for installation by DHI crews or outside personnel. This function is performed using sound cost considerations consistent with delivery schedule needs
    • Enforces a safe, clean and organized work environment, seeking to maintain/improve safety whenever possible, that meets all OSHA and other government requirements
    • Maintains and continues to develop product knowledge of materials, methods and equipment that may be of benefit to shop operations through training, study and observation of better work techniques, equipment trends and new product developments
    • Works closely with the President and Accounting Department to establish shop performance budgets, track results and plan changes to improve shop operations
    • Confers, meets with and provides assistance to the President and other Managers to help resolve general company problems and needs.

  • Requirements

    • Fluency in English to read, analyze and interpret basic business documents and specifications relating to welding, machining, mechanical and hydraulic functions. Ability to interact effectively with senior management on company issues, vendors and customers regarding project content, goals and hydraulic issues
    • Ability to understand and use intermediate math and geometry to calculate figures, apply percentages & ratios and interpret space, shape and size dimensions. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
    • Must be computer literate with three to five years of experience using computers in a business environment.
    • Must know and have experience using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word Software.
    • General knowledge of Shop Workflow software or similar software is helpful
    • Ability to define problems, interpret data, establish facts, interpret schematics, draw valid conclusions and use common sense. Ability to understand a variety of instructions in mathematical and/or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables
    • Hydraulic and NFPA certifications are desired

    • Associates degree or equivalent plus six to ten years of experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience; ideally, direct experience in the commercial hydraulic service and repair industry with direct operations and management experience

Hose & Tube Assembler Counter Associate

  • Overview

    With a storefront operation in conjunction with a multi-million dollar service capability, the ability to fabricate and form custom hoses and tubes efficiently and effectively is a vital role at Devine Hydraulics, Inc. (DHI). Using the latest tools, hose types and the largest inventory of fittings and adapters, our Hose & Tube Assembler is kept busy servicing customers at the counter as well as supporting needs for our shop and industrial sites.

  • What We're Looking For

    At DHI, we are looking for an individual for the position of Hose & Tube Assembler that can work independently and efficiently, but looks forward to face-to-face customer interactions. Past experience in auto parts stores making hoses is a great launching point for this key role. This person needs to have a base of knowledge that can be grown through training and direction.

  • Overview

    A successful applicant for this position will be highly dependable, able to follow instruction closely, and have the ability to do some heavy lifting as needed. Hand tool experience, including complete tool box, is required. Prior experience is not necessary, but is a big plus. Your own basic tools are required. This is a fast paced environment where hard work and focus are important.

Service Writer

  • Overview

    Our busy environment needs a person that is career-oriented and comfortable working with industrial products. Customer satisfaction means we get it done right the first time and that begins with the very first interaction. This individual needs to have a curious mind in order to best understand what the problem and timelines are that will best satisfy the customers’ requirement, as well as the detailed mind for accurate documentation along with the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities on a daily basis.

  • What We're Looking For

    We are looking for an individual with great and inquisitive customer service skills to work in an industrial environment. Ideally, the candidate will be comfortable and proficient with Windows-based applications, specifically QuickBooks (or other manufacturing applications) and Windows office applications. This person will be a quick learner and will work well with office and shop individuals, as well as our clients and will often be the “face of the company” to our clients.

    • Interfacing with customers to assist and advise them on service requirements for their systems and components
    • Following all jobs through the repair process, updating customers as required to ensure customer satisfaction in a timely manner

Machinist

  • Overview

    We seek a skilled Machinist to manufacture new components for hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, and other components, as requested, from raw material. Must be comfortable with manual lathes, milling machines, lapping machines, and more. Must be able to follow CAD drawings and sketches; also, operate a variety of machines to perform assigned tasks. You will produce or repair precision parts using manual equipment and holding accurate dimensions of generally +.001 to -.001 of an inch..

  • What We're Looking For

    A great machinist who possesses manual dexterity and an eye for detail. They must also have knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as respect for safety precautions. The goal is to ensure effective production operations and optimize procedures.

  • Responsibilities in Detail

    • Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output
    • Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
    • Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping
    • Select appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job
    • Determine and set machine for correct speeds, feeds and other parameters
    • Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed/speed, maintain temperature and identify issues
    • Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and reject defects
    • Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor issues
  • Requirements

    Must have demonstrable experience in and ability to perform successfully the following tasks:


    • Turning, both internal and external
    • Grooving, both internal and external
    • Single-point threading, both internal and external

    Experience Using the following tools:


    • Inside and outside micrometers
    • Digital/dial Vernier calipers
    • Depth micrometers
    • Dial indicators

    Additionally:


    • Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, milling machines, etc.)
    • Knowledge of the properties of ferrous and non-ferrous material
    • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, sketches, and manuals
    • Good at math with analytical abilities
    • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy (up to 50lbs) items
